I've replaced the coolant temp sensor, thermostat, fuel filter, vacuum hoses, checked the fuel pump, replaced the map sensor, idle air control valve, o2 sensor, cleaned the tbi and my car still has a rough idle, dies often times when you first put it into gear, hesitates and jerks when you give it throttle off of stops, has trouble maintaining cruise and sometimes dies at idle. Any ideas as to why my car will run with no problems with the coolant temp sensor …

If you're putting gauges in your car, you might also consider an oil temp or pressure gauge as it can be a real tool in assessing the load on your engine and keep you aware of situations that might harm the reliability of your engine. This is especially true in turbocharged engines or on high speed circuits as engine oil can actually cook if it gets too hot, ruining it's lubricating properties ...

Many cars will run horrible without the MAF sensor while others can do pretty good for a while. GM has always used speed density as a back-up for the MAF sensor and sometimes you may note it seems to run better with it unplugged but that is because speed density is an older and prior fuel mapping strategy that uses more fuel.

13/01/2017· It sounds like in your case, the coolant sensor is either incorrect, or you have two failed sensors - it happens, although not all that often. Plugged in, the sensor is sending a signal for an extremely cold setting, with a very rich mixture as the result. Disconnecting the sensor may be getting you a default setting, and fuel mixture, that is much better for the engine’s performance. I would do some checking with the wiring, and sensor …
